The Levin Stage

December 5, 2008 – January 11, 2009

Oprah turned Gloria Naylor’s best selling novel into a TV Movie in 1993, and in 2007 Tim Acito adapted it for the stage. This souring musical chronicles the dreams and realities of ten diverse African-American women who live in a decaying housing project cut off from the city by a giant wall. Facing an environment full of poverty and prejudice, the women try to overcome their differences and come together as a community to tear down the wall.
